June Fuller has been and still is a highly valued member of Medowie CWA (Country Women’s Association) branch. She was recently presented with the prestigious award of CWA Lifetime Membership. June was a founding member of the branch, and since its inception she has worked tirelessly as an advocate for CWA of NSW at all levels and also within the wider community. June has held most positions within the branch, including that of councillor to group council meetings, group vice president, delegate to group and state AGM’s. She has seldom missed a branch meeting in all her years of membership, and has been totally involved in contributing to branch functions and fundraising activities. She supports new members, visits other CWA branches, and is always available for advice and fellowship. She typifies what the CWA has come to mean to the public, and her branch, displaying those characteristics that a ‘country woman’ is believed to possess, involved in both her family, business, and community and all the time being practical in support and action. June supports many causes, including; Sewing for branch stalls, the JHH neonatal clinic, Ronald McDonald house, baby nighties for ACWW and other overseas projects, and days for girls sustainable sanitary kits. She has been a show committee member for almost every year since Hunter River Group took over running the Newcastle Show CWA tea rooms. One of June’s great strengths is that she not only herself contributes to requests from head office and other community causes, she actively enlists from others, drawing from her wide network of friends and acquaintances when she feels they could assist. She works tirelessly to support where she can, including visiting elderly CWA members at home or in hospital, taking them to appointments and extending that care to their families. June is truly a community member who cares for those around her, and dedicates her time to helping others. By Rachael VAUGHAN
