The countdown to Christmas continues with Burton Toyota, Port Stephens Council, Salamander Shopping Centre, Raine and Horne and the Churches of Port Stephens announcing a special night that will usher in the spirit of the season.

Mark your Calendars for Sunday 11 December to enjoy a night of sitting under the stars for Carols At The Bay, Fly Point Park Nelson Bay.

Carols are a time-honoured tradition for families across Australia who sing along every year to their favourite Christmas songs and this year will be completely Christmas Carol orientated with the night ending with the Bay’s traditional Fireworks display.

The night will begin at 5.30pm with Community Performers including local schools, dance companies, singing groups and local churches.

‘’Singing is good for the soul, our community Christmas carols are a fabulous family night out and a special time to reflect on the reason for the season,” Bill Brill, Pastor of Beachside and organiser of this years Carols, told News Of the Bay.

The Marching Koalas will also be a part of the Fly Point Carols this year.
The Marching Koalas, a youth marching band, have travelled extensively to many parts of the world enjoying an international reputation for their excellent performances.

Bonnie-Lee Mooney will also grace the stage after having much success in the music industry over many years.
Bonnie has written and recorded with Jimmy Barnes, Human Nature and Cosima De Vito and performs musically in the local area.

Bonnie is also a very successful makeup artist through her business Makeup by Bonnie-Lee.
Headlining this year’s Carols in the Bay is Anyerin Drury.

Working as a professional musician in the USA for the past eight years, Anyerin Drury returns to the Bay just in time to take you on a journey through the Christmas Carols tradition.

Be prepared as Anyerin carries you away in a beautiful version of Silent Night that will leave you convinced that even the Angels themselves are singing along with him.

“Carols in the Bay are run by the community for the community with every stand giving much of their profits back to the Port Stephens Community,” Bill Brill said.

The community is invited to bring small torches or purchase glow sticks that will be on sale on the night as, understandably, candles will not be be permitted.

A Rotary Club BBQ,The Rock Church’s Nativity Scene, Hunter Valley Ice Cream, A Coffee Tent , Fairy Floss, Facepainting and glowsticks will be available on the day.

Kim Burton from Burton Toyota told Bay News Of The Area he had no hesitation in supporting this local event.
“It’s Christmas, and Family Time,“ he said.

Other local supporters include Raine & Horne, and Ray Noonan said, “It’s an important annual event which brings the community together.”

“It’s great to celebrate the meaning and joy of Christmas,” he said.
