Community members, landholders and their families are invited to attend the African Olive and other Woody Weeds Field Day at Stuart Oval, Hinton.
As well as Costa, there will be plenty to enjoy for all ages — from live demonstrations of unmanned aerial aircraft and the latest in weed control technology for the adults, to a jumping castle, free ice cream and a petting zoo for the kids.
Steve Peart, Council’s Strategy and Environment Section Manager, says it will be a fun and educational day out.
“We live in a beautiful part of the world but unfortunately woody weeds like African Olive are threatening our native species and taking over our natural bushland and farming land.
“This free field day is a great opportunity for people across the Hunter region to get together, have some fun and learn how they can help stop the spread of invasive species.
“Costa Georgiadis will be there to answer your curly questions, there will be live demonstrations of the latest weed technology, industry experts sharing their knowledge, a mini-expo of rural businesses, as well as plenty of fun activities for the kids to enjoy.
“I want to thank the NSW Government’s Environmental Trust for supporting this day and making it possible,” Mr Peart said.
