Or media@newsofthearea.com.au[/caption] Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE Julie Bailey from the Community group told News Of The Area, “We cooked up a storm with over 17 kilos of pork and 16kgs of veggies, followed by stewed apple and custard and a selection of wonderful desserts brought along by Community.” The Community Helping Community Inc. Wellbeing program was put in place 12 months ago by the community of the Red Zone as they could see friends and neighbours stressing over the uncertainty of the PFAS contamination, and realised that they needed to do something to help bring the community together. “It is with connections we build a stronger community that can help support one another,” Julie said. “The program would not be a success without the help from all the volunteers who bring it together.” The Wellbeing group is always open for new volunteers who would like to help build the programs. DHS Kathy Kent has been a strong advocate for the program, joining in every Friday. “We would like to thank her for all her time and help as it is greatly appreciated,” Julie said. Sharon Nelmes will be taking over Kathy Kent’s role as Community Liaison, and has been helping over the last few weeks with the Wellbeing Program. “Sharon has joined us for the last three weeks at morning cuppa and has really enjoyed getting to know some of the community members and seeing the value the group adds to their lives,” Julie said. “She looks forward to being a bigger part of the community in her new community liaison role.” If you are interested in any of the activities, or would like to volunteer, you can follow the group on Facebook.
