Coffs Suns Youth Men win their first two home games of the season Coffs Coast Sport Property/Sports/Opinion - popup ad Sport by News Of The Area - Modern Media - April 26, 2023 The Coffs Harbour Suns Youth Men’s team celebrate their win against the Hawkesbury Jets. AFTER opening their representative season with two games on the road, the Coffs Harbour Suns Youth Men (Under 20s) have won their last two games at home as they play off in the Basketball NSW Waratah League. With their normal home court of Sportz Central out of action, the Suns played their first two home games of the season at the Wiigulga Sports Complex in Woolgoolga. The Suns won their first home game of the season 81-56 against the Hawkesbury Jets. They won their second straight game at Woolgoolga with a 77-72 victory against the Central Coast Crusaders Blue. The two straight wins at home came after opening the season with two losses away from home. Suns coach Adam Martin said it was a definite advantage to be back playing at home. “Having the home crowd is great, and the boys definitely feed off the crowd,” he said. “And at the Woolgoolga complex the crowd is closer, whereas there’s a bit of a buffer at Sportz Central.” Martin said he was pleased with how his young side were starting to come into their own early in the season. “I have ten new players this season that haven’t played at this level,” he said. “I’m pleased with how they have come together, and they are getting more confident each game. “The two straight wins will help them carry more confidence into this weekend when they play in Newcastle.” The Suns’ first home game of the season at Sportz Central is on Saturday, 20 May when they take on the Hills Hornets. The Coffs Harbour Suns women’s team tipped off their representative season last weekend with an 89-66 win against the Tamworth Thunderbolts in Tamworth.
