A SUPER round of matches played at the one venue in Coffs Harbour will help to kickstart the latest Coastal Premier League Men season in April. In a first of its kind for the region, Round 2 of this year’s season will feature all six matches played over two days at the Ce.x Coffs International Stadium, in the inaugural super round on Saturday, 9 April, and Sunday,10 April. The super round is one of the highlights of the recently released season draw for the upcoming third Coastal Premier League Men season. The new season will feature 22 rounds, with finals to be played in September and the grand final to be held on Saturday, 17 September at the Ce.x Coffs International Stadium. This year’s season will also feature a six-team finals series for the first time. The upcoming season will feature 12 teams with the addition of Bellingen FC and the Forster-Tuncurry-based Southern United FC, with the number of matches for each team increasing from 18 to 22. The 2022 Coastal Premier League Men season gets underway a week before the super round on Saturday, 2 April. Last year’s minor premiers the Coffs City United Lions begin their premiership campaign away from home when they travel to take on the Kempsey Saints. This season’s two new clubs Bellingen FC and Southern United FC play their first ever Premier League games at home in Round 1, with Bellingen hosting the Port Saints while Southern United welcome the Boambee Bombers. Last season’s second-placed team Coffs Coast Tigers open their season at home against Port United, while Sawtell Scorpions are also at home for the opening round when they take on the Taree Wildcats. The Northern Storm hit the road for Round 1 when they face the Macleay Valley Rangers in Kempsey. Round 3 will see teams play on Easter Monday, with last year’s top two teams the Coffs City United Lions and Coffs Coast Tigers meeting in an early season blockbuster. Coffs City United Lions and Northern Storm will meet in an ANZAC Day match at the Ce.x Coffs International Stadium, in another season highlight.
