COFFS Harbour hosted the NSW Squash Junior Age Championships 2022 with magnificent results from local players resulting in a number of players making the NSW State team. Maddison Nargar continued her phenomenal season to become the 2022 New South Wales State Champion in the girls under 13s event, winning the final 3-2 against Emilia Scott Coffs Harbour’s Sebastian Williams, Micaylah Tidey and Jaida Wigley stepped up to the podium winning third place in the boys 15s, girls 19s and girls 11s respectively. The pinnacle gold ranking event on the AJST Tour and Squash NSW calendar for 2022 attracted a bumper crowd as Tournament Director Peter Saxby explained. “There were plenty of smiles on Sunday afternoon after a fantastic two days of competition in the NSW State Junior Championships in Coffs Harbour,” he said. “Players in the five age groups performed exceptionally well with 178 matches played over the two days. “The Coffs Harbour Squash Centre were justifiably proud of the standards on display and we congratulate all the participants on their effort over the two days. “There were some fantastic matches in all divisions throughout the day especially in the Boys and Girls U/13s which went the distance and were both decided in the fifth game. “Players from interstate took home the U/11, U/15, U/19 Girls and U/15 Boys,” said Saxby. After the individual presentations the New South Wales team was announced where four players from Coffs Harbour were named in the state team.
