THE Coffs Harbour Comets made it four wins from four to maintain top spot in the Tooheys New Group 2 Rugby League, Ladies League Tag competition.

It was another immaculate scoreline as the Comets scored three unanswered tries for a 14-0 victory over the Macksville Sea Eagles at Geoff King Motors Oval.

Midfield playmaker Hannah White unlocked the Sea Eagles defence with a line breaking pass for Eden Bennett to sprint home for the first try.

Hannah explained how the team is focused on putting points on the board whilst being frugal in defence.

“We have been playing some real good penetrative and defensive footy the last few weeks.

“We have been putting plenty of points on the board and our goal is to keep the other teams to a nil.

“Our coaches are very supportive of us as a team and individually which helps us play to our strengths.

“Our match yesterday was probably our hardest game so far, we were pushing through with a few injuries but we are happy to come away with the win.

“We play Bellingen this weekend which will definitely put us to the test,” said Hannah.

The Ladies have set the bar high as coach Scott Street explained to News Of The Area.

“The girls were a bit off this game, so to come away with a win was very pleasing.

“Also our third game out of four that we’ve kept our opposition scoreless, which is something the girls are really proud of.

“The way we have our training sessions planned are in stages, we’re working towards stage ten and we’re at about stage three at the moment so still keeping things quite simple.

“Next up we play Bellingen, a tough game for the girls but I’m sure they’ll be up for it,” said Scott.

The Comets play Bellingen on their home turf at Geoff King Motors Oval on Sunday 16 May.
