Coffs Harbour Comets crowned Minor Premiers.

THE Coffs Harbour Comets were crowned minor premiers of the Tooheys New Group 2 Rugby League competition as they fired to a convincing 36-0 victory over the Woolgoolga Seahorses.

Two tries from Jessica Moore and tries from Xanthi Hand, Elizabeth Kelly, Gabby Barrington, Riki Blaikie and Zahlia Kerighan completed an immaculate season as they romped to their sixteenth consecutive victory in the competition.

The Comets amassed a remarkable 434 points over sixteen matches and conceded a miserly 42 points, with co-captain Jessica Moore named as the top try scorer in the competition in a stellar season.

Comets co-captain Megan Danvers praised the flair of the attack and the frugal defence.

“The girls played really well today, we defended well and our attack came off the back of that.

“Really proud of the girls and looking forward to the finals,” said Megan.

As minor premiers the ladies have a week off and will face the winners of the Bellingen Magpies versus Grafton Ghosts clash at Geoff King Motors Oval on Sunday 15 August at 11:30am.

The Men’s first grade Comets defeated Woolgoolga 22-10 and now face the Macksville Sea Eagles on Sunday 15 August at 2:15pm at Geoff King Oval where the winner will progress to the major semi-final.
