THE Coffs Harbour Baseball Association’s season continued towards its finals series with the latest round decided in the run home to this year’s playoffs.

The Sawtell/Toormina Dodgers maintained top spot on the ladder with a 15-13 victory against the Coffs Harbour AllStars which was a walk-off win in the 5th inning.

The Woolgoolga Blue Sox had a dominant 21-9 win against the Bellingen Brewers.

Cody Banks is a member of the Blue Sox team and has played baseball over a 9-10-year period since the age of 12.

He told News Of The Area where baseball had taken him and what playing in Coffs Harbour was like.

“I’ve travelled for baseball to places like Lismore, Tamworth and Sydney,” he said.

“Coffs is good because there’s a bit of banter in A-grade which keeps it competitive, while B-grade is about learning the game.”

The long-time player encouraged others in the area to give baseball a try.

“It’s a really good sport to get into, anyone can come and have a go,” he said.

“It’s a really good game mentally and physically as it keeps you switched on mentally and it’s good to run around.

“And it’s good for hand-eye coordination especially when you’re batting.”

The Coffs Harbour Baseball Association season continues tomorrow afternoon with Round 15 matches at the Coffs Coast Sport & Leisure Park complex.

A-grade standings: 1. Sawtell/Toormina Dodgers – 37 points. 2. Coffs Harbour AllStars – 33. 3. Bellingen Brewers – 21. 4.Woolgoolga Bluesox – 21.
