THE Support-a-Family Christmas Appeal has been running in News Of The Area for the past three weeks, encouraging community members to support local families in need this Christmas. LifeLine North Coast, St Vincent de Paul Society, Lifehouse Care and the Salvation Army joined forces to create a list of families who were identified as needing help to make Christmas special this year. Nicole Hayes from Lifeline North Coast, Leon Walsh and Phil Hartmann from Vinnies, Matt Harris and Mandy Dawkins from Lifehouse Care, and Jose Porcia and Benn Nicholson from The Salvation Army, wish to say a huge thank you to members of the community for stepping up. “We would like to show our appreciation to members of the community and businesses who have come together to support 95 less fortunate families in need and say a big heartfelt ‘thank you’. “It’s such fantastic generosity of the community at this time of year,” Phil from Vinnies said. Benn from the Salvation Army agreed, “Its outstanding community spirit.” Leon from Vinnies told News of the Area, “Families are always grateful when they pick the hampers up.” Matt from Lifehouse Care said the generosity of the donors, families and businesses has been well received by the recipients. “The families are overwhelmed with the generosity, as are we,” he said. “It is so heartwarming to know that so many caring people in our local areas are wanting to help others and how quickly all families were picked up to be supported,” said Nicole from Lifeline North Coast.
