COFFS Harbour Boardriders have held their second competition of the year with a jam-packed Sunday of surfing.

Clean off-shore conditions and solid swell at Park Beach held up for Competition 2 of 2022, with a jam-packed schedule seeing two banks running right through the day.

Open A’s made the most of the epic conditions, putting on an impressive display, with stand-out performances across the field and from captain Lee Winkler, stamping his authority and showing the groms how it’s done, taking out the final ahead of Jayke Sharp, Dayne Peel and Will Martin.

The swell pulsed on the low tide and all divisions put on a show, with a peeling right hander coming off the island on the north bank, allowing for some fun free surfs between heats.

The groms braved the challenging conditions, with a huge amount of water movement making it hard to hold position in the line-up.

But they managed to make light work of it and even the under 8’s showed their commitment, with newcomer Lennox McCarthy taking out the youngest division in his first ever comp.

Coffs Harbour Boardriders events coordinator Sharni Winkler recognized the contributions of those who helped to make the day a success.

“A huge field meant for a big day in and out of the water, but thanks to the efforts and hard work of our members and volunteers it was seamless,” she said.

“Shout out to Competiton Director Ian Klaus for all his efforts behind the scenes, our BBQ crew, our ladies helping keep the heats on track, our judges, Macho and co on the mic and of course all of you shredders for making Comp 2 an epic day out.

“Let’s do it all again next month.”
