Coffs BMX riders compete at NSW Series 1 in Maitland

SEVEN Coffs Coast Cyclones BMX club riders made the trip to Maitland to compete in the NSW BMX Series 1 on the weekend, and were part of the 636 riders to contest the event.

Hannah Beattie received her 2nd place State Jersey for the 2020 State Series for the 8-10 years girl’s cruiser, an awesome achievement for the young rider in her first year of competitive racing.

Hannah continued her 2020 form coming home with a 3rd place in the 9 girls 20 inch and then rode up a division in the 11-12 years girl’s cruiser and finished 5th.

Dusty Owers continued to improve and finished 4th on her 20 inch and rode up a division in the 11-12 girl’s cruiser and came away with a 6th place.

Cody Beattie raced extremely well over the day and finished 5th on his 20 inch in the 12 boys and 5th on his cruiser in the 11-12 boys.

Hunter Owers made the semifinals on his 20 inch in the 12 boys division and finished 6th on his cruiser in the 11-12 years boys.

Tyler Calder came away with a 7th on his cruiser in the 13-14 boy’s division and just missed a spot in the semi-finals in the 13 boys on his 20 inch.

Ethan Fisher rode in the 9 boys 20 inch and missed the semi-finals but will be better prepare for the next event.

Aaron Miller competed in the 15 boys 20 inch and rode up a division in the 17-24 men’s division on his cruiser and was extremely unlucky not to make the finals in both but was injured in a gate malfunction in his 20-inch semi-final and could not finish the rest of his races.

The riders are now back in training ready for round two of the series at Canberra in three weeks’ time under the watchful eye of Coach Justin Lamb.
