WITH greatest respect to your correspondent (KJ Mitchell, NOTA November 18), I think that all of the predictions about climate change are happening.

The temperature of the planet continues to rise and extreme weather events have increased in intensity and frequency.

I would ask your correspondent which conspiracy theory is more likely.

The one where a cabal of greenies convinces scientists and governments around the world to give up their wealth and power OR the industries with a vested interest in continuing to sell oil and coal use the tobacco industry handbook to spread misinformation about what is really happening in the world.

I know which one I believe.
