TWO of the Myall Masters swimmers, Chris Lock and Chris Mobbs just returned from the 9th Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games, held at Southport on the Gold Coast.

Over 13,000 participants from all over the world attended the nine day meet, competing in the multi-sport event which has stamped itself on the calendar at the beginning of November every two years.

Chris Lock achieved outstanding results, winning two gold medals.

He also picked up a silver medal as well as three bronze medals and a fourth place.

Chris Mobbs competed strong, achieving top 10 positions in all his races and best a fourth place in his 200m freestyle.

Together Chris lock and Chris Mobbs combined for the 100m Masters Medley relay to gain a fifth place.

Chis Lock told Myall Coast News they were dubbed “The Calendar Boys from Myall Masters”.

“We both had a great meet at the Games, made lots of new friends, had a great experience and a few medals of all colours to boot,” said Mr Lock.

 

 

In other club news, the Myall Masters 25m Handicap Series commenced last week with some very competitive swims.

All heats were very close with top point scorers and heat winners for the night being Peter King, Mal Motum, Chris Mobbs, Ian Felton and Peter McLennon.

Ian Felton from the Master Club said, “The 25m Handicap Series continues throughout the season and rewards those who swim consistent times and attend all training sessions and heats.”

“There is also a reward for the individual who shows the most time improvement throughout the season,” he said.

“The season is still young and with the excellent coaching each week there is still room for more members,” said Mr Felton.

“If you are keen don’t hesitate to come down to Tea Gardens pool on Monday evenings starting at 5.30pm,” he said.
