GOLD lamé, pretty pastels and teetering heels featured at the Tomaree Breast Cancer Support Group Charity Golf Day at Nelson Bay Golf Club.

The theme this year was “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” and the supporters certainly got into the spirit, swinging their tresses as well as their golf clubs.

In its eleventh year, the charity day raised a record amount of over $10,000.

“This is a great boost to the Tomaree Breast Cancer Support Group,” organising committee member Margaret Harding said.

The highlight for all was the “Party Hole” at the par 3 14^th.

A spirited group of men dressed in pastel shades or frocks and adorned with gorgeous pink and yellow bouquets, greeted each group of ladies as they reached the tee.

For a gold coin donation, the ladies were offered sparkling wine and cupcakes, plus a tee shot hit by some of the club’s best male players.

An impressive giant pink stiletto was provided courtesy of the craftsmen at Salamander Men’s Shed.

The ladies also got right into the theme, with clothes, faces and even carts all resplendent in shades of pink.

Winners of the golf event were Peri Kennedy, Judy Schulz, Fran Giudes and Beth MacDuff.

Participation was outstanding with 140 ladies joining in for the important cause.

The funds raised will provide a significant boost to a vital local service.

The Tomaree Breast Cancer Support Group offers assistance to Tomaree Peninsula residents who are breast cancer patients.

Services include the provision of wigs, sleeves and prostheses as well as underarm cushions, house cleaning after a mastectomy, assistance getting to medical appointments and face-to-face support.
