Changed overnight traffic conditions on Hexham Bridge

MOTORISTS are advised of changed overnight traffic conditions on the Hexham Bridge over the Hunter River at Hexham to carry out additional maintenance work.

Transport for NSW will carry out the work from Monday 26 April, which includes servicing the deck and the lift span trusses.

To minimise impacts to motorists, work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 5am from Mondays to Thursdays and is expected to be completed in two weeks, weather permitting.

The southbound bridge will be closed during work hours with motorists diverted onto the northbound bridge, which will have one lane operating in each direction.

The pedestrian footpath will also be closed during work hours with traffic control on site to ensure safe escort of pedestrians across the bridge.

The bridge’s opening span will not be in operation while the work is carried out.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
