Champion clubs to collide in Coastal Premier League

The Boambee Bombers and Coffs City United Lions play off this weekend.

TWO champion clubs are set to collide this weekend as the Coffs City United Lions host the Boambee Bombers during the latest round of the Coastal Premier League.

The Bombers sit at the top of the ladder after four straight wins to start the season, while the Lions are in third after two wins and two draws from their opening four matches.

Both clubs won titles in 2020 with the Lions winning the inaugural Coastal Premier League, while the Bombers won the Coastal Premier League’s Northern Conference grand final.

Saturday night will be their first meeting since the aforementioned grand final which saw the Bombers win 1-0.

The Bombers are facing a busy weekend having to back up the next day for their FFA Cup match against Camden Haven.

Bombers president Fiona Clancy told News Of The Area her side were bracing for a big weekend of football.

“The Bombers are improving every week and are well aware that they have a big weekend ahead of themselves,” she said.

“Coffs United is always a physical game, there is no doubt the back up on Sunday will be challenging.”

After their last round match was postponed, the Coffs Coast Tigers and Northern Storm return to action this weekend with the Tigers travelling to take on the Macleay Valley Rangers and the Storm hosting the Port Saints.

Fresh off their first win of the season, the Sawtell Scorpions hit the road to face Port United.
