Tomaree Business Chamber President and Port Stephens Woman of the Year, Leah Anderson told News Of The Area, “It’s not just about tourists seeing a cleaner town, it’s about how we all experience town every time we visit.” She believes that there is plenty to be done to improve the look and feel of the township and if that means rolling up sleeves and making a change then it’s time for the community to get behind the action and make Nelson Bay somewhere to be proud of. “We need more volunteers to help on the day, every pair of hands will help,” she said. The clean up is supported by Port Stephens Council and will see garden beds weeded, infrastructure painted and cleaned. The work isn’t too arduous, and the Tomaree Business Chamber is hoping that many hands will make light work on the day. You can register to volunteer on the day by simply turning up to the Donald Street west car park at 7.30am for an induction prior to the clean up commencing at 8am finishing at 1pm or earlier. Volunteers are invited to stay and enjoy free entertainment and a BBQ which will be hosted by Port Stephens Council to celebrate the opening of the Yacabba Street extension. By Marian SAMPSON
