Carter Goodwin is one extraordinary three-year-old.
Twin brother to Milla, and younger brother to Hudson, Carter has already achieved so much in his short life.
Carter was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (a disability that affects movement and posture), Epilepsy and vision and hearing impairments after contracting a virus shortly after birth.
Carter undertakes regular physiotherapy and occupational and speech therapy with the intention of gaining greater control of his muscles and increasing his mobility and independence.
All of these therapies come with expensive price tags, and one Medowie business decided they could do something to help Carter and his family.
Ben and Shaun from Medowie Meats put on a barbecue outside their store last weekend for Carter.
The event turned out to be a wonderful community gathering to show support for the Goodwin family, and raised funds that will go towards Carter’s ongoing out-of-pocket therapy costs, providing him with the best chance of learning to crawl, walk and talk.
Carter’s father, Alex Goodwin, told News Of The Area, “We would like to extend our gratitude to the wonderful community and businesses of Medowie that have shown our family so much support.”
“To say we live in a great community would be an understatement.”
The Goodwin family would also like to extend their thanks to Jane of Century 21, The Tin Shed, Medowie Bakehouse, BYO bottle shop and Jenny for volunteering.
