Photo: supplied. EACH year Business and Professional Women (BPW) Coffs Harbour supports two recipients with scholarships in the culminating year of their tertiary study. The awards, the Maude Spielvogel Scholarship ($1250 ) and the Wendy Martin Education Encouragement Award ($750), honour former BPW members, two women who were passionate about education. This scholarship programme aligns with goal number four, ‘Ensuring an inclusive and equitable quality education and promotion of life-long learning for all.’ Past scholarship winners have come from diverse areas of study including: psychology, online games development, aged care, midwifery, disability nursing, marine science and art. Applicants need to be women who live in the Coffs Coast area (including the Local Government areas of Coffs Harbour, Bellingen and Nambucca) and are studying at tertiary level for a diploma, degree or higher qualification. They should have had a gap between secondary schooling and tertiary study, have overcome disadvantage and/or adversity and/or challenges, and be in the final year of study (due to complete their course by July 2023). Successful applicants will be contacted for an interview and the two winners will be recognised at a formal dinner and presentation in June.
