The not for profit business chamber was recently awarded Highly Commended at the Hunter Business Awards for their work in the community.

They have won the category outright for the past two years, mostly due to the dynamic nature of the chamber and its growing member base.

President of Business Port Stephens Leah Anderson told News Of The Area, “We are very proud to have achieved highly commended at the highly prestigious and competitive awards.

“We congratulate Singleton Business Chamber who took out the first prize this year.”

Singleton Business Chamber delivered an interesting concept to buy local during the pandemic.

They issued a card and had points attached to local purchases and it proved to be highly successful.

The Business Port Stephens new Facebook site and business directory have started to get new members joining online.

“So that’s really pleasing for us and we are newly servicing businesses in Raymond Terrace and as other areas are increasing, each having their own local representatives managing them as a healthy part of the bigger organisation,” said Anderson.

The entity is looking forward to 2021 where they hope to be able to engage in stage two of the Anna Bay Seven Day Makeover and work with Council to duplicate the program in other business precincts across Port Stephens.

Business Port Stephens represents almost 300 businesses across the local government area.
