Bush care volunteers from Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest by NOTA - July 1, 2015 Bush care volunteers from Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest returned to Winda Woppa at the weekend to find that bushland mistakenly cleared by council workers had begun to regenerate. Fourteen members of HN&TG Bitou Busters met at the end of The Anchorage, Winda Woppa, to continue clearing invasive weeds at the back of the public reserve. The volunteers were back to plant lomandra and gum tree saplings donated by Great Lakes Council amongst the regenerating bush and the strongly growing tube stock the Bitou Busters planted last month. The volunteers are planning a return to Winda Woppa later in the year for a secondary weeding to remove hundreds of germinating Bitou seedlings growing there. After the final bitou bush was removed for the day, the group cleared up and drove to Benchmark on Booner for a well-deserved cup of coffee. The next Bitou Busters workday is on Saturday 25 July 2015.
