Bulahdelah’s own, Judy Dixon, Karl Price and Ellie Gooch Bulahdelah, Wootton, Nerong by NOTA - January 21, 2015 Three Bulahdelah locals have been nominated for the Great Lakes Australia Day Awards. Judy Dixon and Karl Price Judy Dixon has been described as a “truly sharing and caring person” within the community. She is the events coordinator for Bulahdelah Lions Club and organises the holiday Driver Reviver program. She also manages the local post office which is a hub of community involvement. “It’s an honour and humbling to think that someone has voted me in,” she said. “But people need to remember too that it’s not just one person who makes the Lions Club initiatives happen, there is a whole group of us.” Two of the Young Citizen of the Year nominees are also from Bulahdelah. Karl Price, 17, is Vice Captain of Bulahdelah Central School and part of the school’s Student Representative Council. Karl is excellent in both sport and his studies, finishing as dux of year 11, a member of the senior debating team and a state representative for athletics. He is also a foundation member, and treasurer for Bulahdelah’s junior lions club. “This year one of our projects will be to get a skate park going ahead for the area,” he said. Ellie Gooch Young citizen nominee Ellie Gooch, 17, was a recent recipient of the Pierre De Doubertin Award, a prestigious award symbolising the ideals of the Olympics. She is also a volunteer with the Bulahdelah Health Advisory Committee, as well as a member of the Bulahdelah Central School Student Representative Council and a leader in junior lions club.
