Bulahdelah development proposal delivered by Hamptons Property Services Bulahdelah, Wootton, Nerong FEATURED by NOTA - March 31, 2016 Plans for a major development in Bulahdelah were presented by Hamptons Property Services at a meeting of local business representatives last week. Hamptons Property Services representative Mrs Kristy Hodgkinson explains the development proposal to local business owners. The proposal, aimed at reinvigorating Bulahdelah includes a highway service centre, 200 room motel, residential land subdivision of up to 200 lots and tourist facilities. Those in attendance were informed that land adjacent to the southern side of the golf club was acquired for the project in August last year. Hamptons Property Services representative Mrs Kristy Hodgkinson, said the project would have a positive impact on economic growth in the town, increase employment opportunities and improve tourism and infrastructure. Mrs Hodgkinson also stated that the development could initially impact on the existing service stations and other service providers in the town. Manager of Bulahdelah Bowling Club Allan Freihaut, believes the community should look positively towards any opportunity for growth. “For the township of Bulahdelah to grow we need more jobs and certainly more people living here,” he said. Email us today ads@mcnota.com.au “We are currently only capturing 10% of passing trade and need to tap into the other 90% that drive past our town.” “We should look at the chance of a new subdivision in a positive way.” Business owner Christine Garrod agrees the town needs more employment opportunities, however expressed concern that the proposed development would affect existing businesses. “To build a service centre on the outskirts of town where petrol, food and accommodation are sold will put existing businesses out of business,” she said. “I fully support anyone who would build something on that site to promote Bulahdelah but not at the expense of existing businesses.” Bulahdelah Chamber of Commerce and Tourism President Mr John Sahyoun said the presentation was detailed and a presented an overview of the impacts on the town. “I am pleased that the developers were upfront with their proposal so everyone has a clear understanding of the proposed development,” he said. “This proposal will be considered at length over the coming months.” Mrs Hodgkinson outlined the developers would now start a consultation process with Council and other external agencies with a timeline for the project to be developed. I don’t know why people are saying it would take business out of the main part of town as it seems that with the prices some change they are cutting their on throats , take IGA for example how can afford to do your weekly/fortnightly shopping there , and if you venture to Tea Gardens ( Coles ) , Forster or Taree how many locals do you run into ????? It is time Bulahdelah started to accept new ventures as it has been left in the dark for far too long. It has the potential to grow and increase the population which will increase the amount of business in town. The average person in Bulahdelah wants this project to go ahead so it is time you Business people accept WE NEED PROGRESS. Reply
Doing some due diligence on a buisness in bulahdelah and have stumbled across this development , which may put a holt to my investigations on a buisness in this town ,nothing wrong with well overdue development in small regional centres ,but looking into any regional centres that has allowed developments to go ahead on the outskirts of towns does drastically have an impact on the central hub of the town any research will dictate this ! At least give bulahdelah a chance to enjoy some benefits of this development and build it closer into the hub of the town so all buisnesses may feed of the increased volume of potential customers this is what the town needs to move ahead otherwise it may just go in the opposite direction and if someone could tell me why would a traveler need to venture into bulahdelah when everything is available on the outskirts of this town is it for the benefit of the town or greed caution ,, Reply
