With a winter chill in the air, the large crowd of diners at the RSL Hall quickly warmed from the inside out as they sampled the eight curries on offer.

The dishes were the culinary delights of renowned local chef Ken Snellgrove and received rave reviews from the guests.

“What a fantastic night, the food was incredible,” one community member told News Of The Area.

“The curries were sensational,” another said.

With bellies full of comforting heat, the fun continued with Indian dancing which had the crowd shimming and shaking in true Bollywood style.

“The night was a great way of promoting cultural diversity,” War Memorial Trust Secretary Jeff Carryer said.

“The food and dancing were a highlight and it was great for families in that they could bring their children.”

Jeff said with the support of the community, more than $1,200 was raised from the night.

“The chef volunteered his time, money and expertise for this event,” Jeff said.

“All monies raised will go to maintenance of the hall and the purchase of equipment to maintain the surrounds of the Rotunda.”

The War Memorial Trust has hosted many successful community events over the years including music and movie nights, men’s health talks, displays and ANZAC Day breakfasts.

Jeff said they are hoping to host further events throughout the year.

“We want to continue to utilise the hall on a regular basis for affordable community events,” he said.
