The main cause of concern is the continual stopping of parents in the no stopping zone when dropping off children at the front of the school. Senior Constable Trevor McLeod said disregarding the parking laws at the school puts every child’s safety at risk. “The crossing and no stopping areas are designed to allow children to arrive at school safely,” he said. “It would appear that previous warnings have not been heeded and stronger measures are considered.” Want your business advertised online with Myall Coast News? Email us today ads@mcnota.com.au Snr Constable McLeod said the penalty for stopping in a no stopping area in a school zone carries a fine of $319. A fine of $425 applies when stopping on or near a children’s crossing in a school zone. Unlike other parking fines, these two offences also have a two demerit point allocation attached. Bulahdelah Central School Principal Mr Don Hudson encourages parents to follow the laws regarding the no stopping and school crossing zones at all times. “We have a concern for the safety and wellbeing of our students and that’s why the zones are in place,” Mr Hudson said. “We need all people to observe and respect the parking laws.” The no stopping zones and crossing areas at the school are well-marked.
