To help their cause, the local brigade will be hosting an information night for the community on Monday 20 August from 7pm.
Deputy Captain Rod Paar said the evening will provide a “no-pressure” opportunity to chat with the local firefighters and find out about joining the service.
“It’s all about becoming part of a team and protecting our community,” he said.
“Training costs you nothing and uniforms cost you nothing, all we ask for is your time.”
Rod said anyone aged 16 years and over can join the crew which is made up of volunteers from all walks of life.
“You’ll learn a lot of new skills and all the training is nationally accredited,” he said.
In addition to fighting bush and structural fires, the brigade also responds to motor vehicle accidents, assists with strategic burn-offs and promotes fire safety within the community.
“We also do medical assists for ambulances and community education activities,” Rod said.
The community information/recruitment night will be held at the Bulahdelah Fire Station in Harold Street.
