John Sahyoun, President of Bulahdelah Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, and a member of the steering committee for the radio, believed that Myall Coast Radio could benefit more than just Tea Gardens/ Hawks Nest residents.

“We wanted to get Bulahdelah involved in this important initiative,” Mr Sahyoun said.

The committee believed that there was a future where Myall Coast Radio could serve the lower Mid Coast area.

After applying for funds through the NSW Community Building Partnership Program, John was surprised to be awarded $15,000 for the project.

This money will go towards establishing a satellite studio in Bulahdelah.

“I would like to thank our local state MP Stephen Bromhead, Member for Myall Lakes for providing funds that will assist in us becoming established.

“There’s still a long way to go but I think this will become one of the best community radio networks anywhere,” said Mr Sahyoun.

The Bulahdelah studio is hoping to be up and running as soon as possible in 2022.

Myall Coast Radio is a community, not-for-profit organisation and radio station based in Tea Gardens looking to connect the community through music, information, and entertainment.
