With presents wrapped and a visit from Santa, the local officers are brimming with Christmas cheer.
But with additional traffic on the roads, police urge all drivers to slow down to ensure a jolly season for all.
“We want to see people enjoying Christmas and the festive season, but that doesn’t mean putting yourself in danger,” they said.
“Take extra care on the roads, be patient and most importantly stay sober, stay alert and safe.”
Sn Constable Trevor McLeod also encourages everyone to be aware of their personal property and not let thieves take the jingle out of Christmas.
“Unfortunately, thieves see the festive period as an opportune time to break-in, so take important measures to protect your home particularly if you are going to be away,” he said.
For police and other emergency services, it will be business as usual over the holiday period keeping communities and motorists safe.
Sn Constable Ash Ray told News Of The Area they are hoping for a relatively quiet time.
“Our wish is for everyone to enjoy the season sensibly,” he said.
“It is the silly season, but don’t be too silly, and make sure you ensure safety at all times.”
No matter what plans you have to celebrate Christmas, Senior Constable Dave Feeney said it is about being around those you treasure the most.
“Christmas is all about spending time with family and friends and celebrating the birth of Jesus,” he said.
“It’s also great to catch up with other relatives during this time.”
The local officers wish the entire community a very safe and happy Christmas and a great start to 2018.
