Where are our Bulahdelah cricket nets? Opinion by News Of The Area - Modern Media - September 2, 2016 Myall Coast News was notified by members of the Bulahdelah community that on Friday 23 October the cricket nets at the Jack Ireland Sports Complex were pulled down by Council. Dear News Of The Area, COUNCIL’S ridiculous decision to pull down Bulahdelah cricket nets on 23 October 2015 without consulting with anyone has gone from bad to worse. The community quickly formed a new cricket club so that we may liaise with council. In November 2015 the committee attended the council meeting in Bulahdelah where this heated topic was first on the agenda. Want your business advertised online with the News Of The Area? Email us today for a quote: ads@mcnota.com.au We were promised by the General Manager that this issue would quickly be rectified. With numerous futile phone conversations Council still sent contractors to the nets without meeting with the committee as promised to discuss the proposed replacement nets. After 11 months children have gone without one of the few facilities to keep them off the streets and to give them physical exercise. Our cricket team has their first home game on 8 October and cannot practice. Several conversations with upper management staff have given us every excuse under the sun. The General Manager has stood up to 2 community meetings and said council will right the wrong, but still nothing. At the last meeting the General Manager also spoke about the council merger and surrounding himself and the new council with good employees… may we suggest that you uphold your values as stated on your website in working with and for the community to build strong and positive relationships. We are frustrated, disappointed, and “12 months to right a wrong is just not good enough!” Bulahdelah Cricket Club
