The Bulahdelah Cricket Club is up and running again after a twelve year lull and has new cricket nets to practice in as well.

The new cricket nets have been anticipated by the Bulahdelah Cricket Club for the last ten months and after the Council was approached about the situation, new cricket nets were installed in September this year.

Councilor Dan Aldridge, the Head of Parks and Gardens and Ron Claxton worked in conjunction with Geoff Matheson to ensure the nets were built and installed in time for the current cricket season.

The Bulahdelah Cricket Club did not have enough members or leadership in the past to make up a team but this year they have entered a Men’s C Grade team in the Manning River District Cricket competition.

This team caters to the ages of 14-50+ which means that some of the previous local players for Bulahdelah are playing again now and are having the opportunity to encourage the young ones.

Their opening game was on Saturday 8 October and they played against Old Bar and won.

The Bulahdelah Cricket Club stated that the top scorer for Bulahdelah was Toby Carroll on 48 not out and that Toby also took a great catch and effected a run out.

“It’s great to have a team back playing in town,” Geoff Matheson commented.
“It gives the local teenage kids an opportunity to play cricket for their home town.

The nets are providing a great training facility for both young and older players to develop their skills.
It’s just good to see kids out playing sport.”

There was a good vibe down on the Jack Ireland Sporting Ground in Bulahdelah on Saturday as good cricket was played and the community were there to support their team.
