The new competition comes after the regular outdoor season for juniors was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.

In what has been a tough year for the club, it is hoped the small sided competition will be a fun replacement for the local juniors.

“We thought of having a 6 a side competition for our junior club, and we are hopeful it will be the basis for an ongoing and regular thing each year,” said club member Rhys.

“The kids usually go watch the seniors, and some of the juniors started asking about their own competition.”

The club is about to have the lights upgraded at their ground, allowing them to run both senior and junior competitions on the same night.

“In the past we didn’t have the facilities to have both the juniors and the seniors playing at night.

“Now we will be able to have the seniors run a little bit later,” Rhys said.

The new junior competition is set to kick off on Thursday 29 October.

Rhys said the club is always looking for volunteers, especially with the added pressures of COVID-19 restrictions.

“Volunteers are the heart and soul of the club every year.

“We are always welcoming volunteers. It always helps to have people pop in, help out and move a goalpost or two.

“If people are interested, they can talk to one of the committee members or jump onto our Facebook page.”

Keen juniors can still register for the competition, by following the links on the Bulahdelah Bullets Soccer Club Facebook page.
