A COMMUNITY fun afternoon will be held this weekend to officially launch the Bulahdelah Blue Light Program.

The celebration is an initiative of the Bulahdelah Blue Light Committee and and will be held at the School of Arts Hall on Saturday 10 June commencing at 1pm.

A free sausage sizzle will be provided and drinks and lolly bags will be available for a very small cost.

Senior Constable Ash Ray said the ‘Bulahdelah Blue Light Arvo’ will be funded by the local committee, in partnership with Raymond Terrace PCYC, as a show of thanks for the community supporting the program.

“We want to show the local community, especially the youth, that we are here for them, and are more than happy to provide a service they will enjoy and can be a part of,” Ash said.

Although the program’s regular activities will be directed towards primary school aged children, entire families and all community members are invited to attend the launch.

“The program is about engaging the community and strengthening the relationship between youth and police,” Ash told News Of The Area.

“We would love to see as many people as possible participate in, and be a part of this initiative.”

Raymond Terrace PCYC representatives and Manning Great Lakes Crime Prevention Officer, Sn Constable Ray Slade, will also be joining the community for the celebrations.

As part of the program, a movie night is being organised for the near future, with Blue Light Discos, fishing outings and game nights some of the other activities being planned.

Ash said the strength of the program lies in the effective partnership between the police and community volunteers.

“It’s important that a holistic approach is undertaken, as it will ensure a well-rounded and successful committee is created and can cater for the needs of the local youth,” Ash said.

The ‘Bulahdelah Blue Light Arvo’ has been organised to celebrate the Blue Light Banner now working in the local area.
