Bulahdelah Ambulance Officers have received a much needed addition to their equipment with the donation of a UHF Radio, thanks to the generosity of Bulahdelah Lions Club.

The UHF Radio will help improve communication between all essential services during emergency callouts including Ambulance, Rural Fire Service, Volunteer Rescue Association and Police.

Bulahdelah Lions Club member Mr Grahame Rowell said the existing equipment created some challenges with communication when coordinating emergency situations.

“All the emergency services have different radio bands making communication between them very difficult during callouts,” Mr Rowell said.

“With the use of the UHF Radio, all the services can now communicate with each other allowing for effective coordination of emergency events such as accidents and fires.”

The Bulahdelah Lions Club has over 30 active members who organise many fundraising projects throughout the year.

Mr Rowell said these funds allow them to help support community organisations and people in need.

“The Lions Club members are all volunteers and we assist wherever we can,” he said.

“We were pleased to be able to donate to the Ambulance Service and this will also benefit the wider community.”

The Lions Club have also recently provided funds for community parks and the Bulahdelah Scout Group.

Bulahdelah Ambulance Officer Mr Rodney Paar, thanked the Lions Club on behalf of the local paramedics for their generosity and assistance.
