The information will be collated into a registry of historical events and participants who have helped conserve local natural sites of significance.

It is hoped that the identification of the people involved and the resulting registry will celebrate the achievements of these people, through their selfless voluntary commitment to our beautiful region.

Darrell Dawson told News Of The Area, “I believe that it is important that this information should not be lost to the collective community memory.”

“I am seeking information about the former Port Stephens Conservation Society and the many associated environmentally focused community action groups and their main players who had been involved in past significant and associated nature (flora and fauna) conservation in Port Stephens and neighbouring communities,” he said.

This project is aimed at ensuring that major past events and the main players involved are not lost to the collective community memory or from local archives.
