Normally a very quiet area with little traffic or visitors, villages like Pindimar and Bundabah become quite busy at certain times of the year like Christmas and Easter.

Cars with caravans, trailers, boats and bikes, frequent the narrow roadways visiting relatives or friends at these times enjoying the best what the area can offer.

But it’s these times of the year that sometimes attracts an unsavoury element of society. Opportunistic thieves.

Amongst the visitors and lots of traffic in South Pindimar on Good Friday, unknown persons have entered a residential premises in Cambage Street and made off with an assortment of power tools which has devastated the owner.

On Good Friday a white Toyota Landcruiser with two males on board, followed by another unidentified vehicle with a box trailer had been seen ‘looping the streets’ of South Pindimar for about an hour.

Residents who saw these vehicles, and not recognising them as ‘locals’, became increasingly suspicious of their activities.

Further to the thefts at Easter, a private residence at North Pindimar was broken into by unknown persons on 2 April resulting in two chainsaws being stolen.

Speaking with News Of The Area, Peter Economos from the Pindimar Bundabah Association said, “Like anywhere in the area, residents need to take extra care and be vigilant with regards to property security.

We may be just out of suburbia but we are not immune to opportunistic thefts like we have recently experienced.”

“Don’t tempt thieves by leaving valuables in your cars or boats, if it can be locked away and out of sight from preying eyes take the time to do just that, and look out for your neighbours also,” he said.
