Bowraville Archies are on again

BOWRAVILLE Centre School (BCU) has rescheduled their Young Archies Portrait Competition to 5 April at 3:30 pm.

All students from Kindergarten to Year 12 have been invited to take part in the competition.

Winning entries from each group will be entered into the ‘Young Archies’, the junior version of the Archibald Prize competition held annually in Sydney.

Art Gallery NSW prefers that portraits are ‘painted from life,’ and that the subject has a sitting for their portrait, like in the Archibald Prize competition.

The students could also create the portrait from memory or take their own photograph to use for reference.

“This is a wonderful experience for all our students,” said Megan Cochrane, BCU Community Liaison Officer.

“Parents and community are invited to come along and vote for the ‘People’s Choice’.”

A full day of celebration has been planned for April 5, starting at 10:00 am with the Easter Hat Parade, followed by Easter festivities, the SRC Induction Assembly, and the Art Exhibition.

There will be afternoon tea on the school’s deck and a chance to chat with staff.

The whole community is invited.
