The group has partnered with Tea Gardens Hotel to co-host the ‘Biggest Morning Tea’ on 20 May 2022 at the venue, raising funds for the Cancer Council charity which helps to support all Australians affected by cancer through support, research and prevention programs.

Julie Sims, Coordinator of Boomerang Bags Tea Gardens Hawks Nest, says that the event has a proud partnership with Tea Gardens Hotel due to their ongoing support.

“Ben and Emily (owners of Tea Gardens Hotel) have always been very proactive and supportive of what we are trying to achieve.

“For years they’ve donated a space within the hotel for our monthly sewing bees so holding our event there was a no-brainer,” Julie said.

The upcoming event has something for everyone, with a huge raffle, lucky door prize, marvellous Drag Queen Bingo entertainment and of course, a morning tea and glass of bubbles.

The Boomerang Bags Group hosts a number of local events that benefit the community.

“We try to choose charities that we feel an affinity with.

“We only recently donated $4000 to a handful of local charities and hopefully we can beat our last Biggest Morning Tea effort for the Cancer Council.

“I’m always very proud of our volunteers- a small but dedicated group,” Julie said.

The Biggest Morning Tea event is being held on Friday 20 May at 11am, with tickets mandatory.

For those that cannot attend, you can still donate through a link which connects to the Boomerang Bags Biggest Morning Tea event, contributing to the total raised at https://www.biggestmorningtea.com.au/s/38739/50333/e

“We hope that after such a long period of COVID isolation people (both men and women) will venture out and make our fundraiser for the Cancer Council a huge success,” Julie said.

Limited tickets costing $40 can still be purchased from Tea Gardens Hotel and Hawks Nest Newsagency.
