On Saturday 26 August they’re holding another sewing bee at the Pindimar Bundabah Community Association Hall. “We have sewers from age 18 to 80,” Julie Sims told News Of The Area. “It’s lovely to see the community come together for the cause.” “But, as always, we are in need of more sewers to help make the bags.” “Alternatively, if anyone is interested in volunteering but can’t sew, we need people to cut fabric, or iron handles for example, all help is welcome,” Julie said. “We also need fabric donations.” “These can come in many forms, sheets, doona covers, pillow cases, curtains, tablecloths and any fabric scraps tucked away in the cupboard at home.” The Boomerang Bag group is also calling on businesses, retailers and customers to run a Plastic Free Hour on Saturday September 23 between 10am and 11am. “We’re canvassing every outlet in Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest and those that support the event will display a sign in their window,” Julie said.
