A report is being prepared for the Coroner after a person’s body was discovered after a house fire in Griffith today (Wednesday 28 January 2015).

About 6.12pm emergency services were called to a house on Macarthur Street.

When they arrived, police and firefighters were told a resident was unaccounted for.

Once the fire was extinguished, a person’s body was found inside the home.

That person is yet to be formally identified and this process may take some time.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

Detectives attached to Griffith Local Area Command are continuing their inquiries.
