Boambee Eagles soar in round two of women’s first division competition

Boambee Eagles flying high with a 5-1 win in women’s division one.

THE Boambee Eagles soared to a 5-1 win over the Woolgoolga Wildcats in the second round of the women’s first division.

Eagles coach Neil Witherdin told News Of The Area, “Boambee and Woolgoolga were competitive throughout with both teams putting in great effort.”

Boambee, looking for their first win of the season, started well with a goal to Hannah Cliff Wilson.

“Woopi also had their chances but Boambee’s scrambling defence held on.

“With goals to Bec Oberleuter and Krista Paunovic the Eagles looked safe only to have Woopi score which lifted their intensity,” Neil said.

“The second half could have been very different if Eagles substitute keeper Hannah Cliff Wilson hadn’t come up with a brilliant one versus one save early on.

“This effort inspired the Eagles with goals from Jasmin Norberry and Kylie McDonald sealing the match.”

Neil said both teams should be happy with the effort they put in, as well as having things to work on as they prepare for next week.

“A special thanks to Woolgoolga for their hospitality following the game,” concluded Neil.
