IF this is how much noise the owners of Lose The Snip make when their gelding wins a Sawtell Cup, imagine the noise if they win a bigger race.

Lose The Snip shot to the lead in last week’s Sawtell Cup and then the Snippetson five year-old never gave the chasers a chance to catch him.

Trainer Joanne Hardy said the raucous owners may have a chance to get even louder after a spell.

“He’ll probably go to the paddock shortly and then he’ll come back next preparation where we’ll probably set him for a Coffs Cup campaign,” Hardy said.

“I’ve always thought he’d run a mile, he hasn’t done it yet but I think he ran out that 1,500 metres very strongly so next time in I think we can try and push him out to 1,600 metres and have a crack at the Coffs Cup. Maybe Sawtell Cup into the Coffs Cup next year.”

Lose The Snip won by three-quarters of a length from Chamisal with Magic Wu a further half a length back.

The only horse from the second half of the field to make considerable ground up the straight was Sawtell which finished fourth.

Winning rider Jon Griesdale was confident he was on the winner a long way from the post.

“He got across pretty fast and pretty easily,” Griesdale said.

“He wanted to go a bit keen early but once he came back underneath me, I was able to dictate things and he found the line very strong.

“As soon as they straightened I still had a lap full of horse underneath me and he just kept finding the line.

“He carried no weight today which was a great thing, He always carries high weights. Today he had the bottom weight and he was able to get away with it.”
