Since 1977, Jenny’s Place has been helping women and children in the Newcastle area to find safety from domestic violence by providing accommodation for women who are at risk of homelessness or who are experiencing domestic violence and also provide support and information about services to keep women and children safe.

Four years ago, Bec Tansey who used to work for her parents who owned a book distribution business in Tea Gardens, in an attempt to meet other mums in the community, formed an online parents group, Newcastle Hunter Mums (NHM) which now boasts a huge membership of 14,500 with this number growing steadily by the hundreds each month.

Bec told News of the Area, “Over the past four years, the NHM has provided support to countless families and are widely recognized within the community and for the past two years has organized a charity event to raise funds for various charity organisations.”

Well done Bec and the NHM team from News Of The Area.
