Beach Day for those living with the Williamtown Contamination

THE Community Wellbeing Program, an initiative set up to help members deal with the stress of the Williamtown contamination are holding a paddle boarding family beach day.

Held this coming Sunday,  9 October the event is free and open to anyone who is living in the imposed ‘Red Zone’.

This will be take place at Shoal Bay Beach, towards the Tomaree Mountain end.

The event is sponsored by Shoal Bay SUP (stand up paddle board) and the Medowie Lions Club.

The event will run from 10am to 3pm, with paddle boards available from 11am to 2pm.

There will also be beach games such as a giant tug of war, a sausage sizzle and drinks provided.

Julie Bailey told News Of The Area, “We are so thankful for Jay and Rod from Shoal Bay SUP who have kindly provided their paddle boards and expertise for the day.”

“Medowie Lions Club are not only running the sausage sizzle but they are also catering for up to 100 people at no charge to the program or community.”

Rod and Jay from Shoal Bay SUP added, “We are looking forward to a huge day where people can come together, relax, and enjoy each other’s company.”

“The weather looks awesome for paddle boarding and we have a range of beach activities as well, so it should be a fantastic day.”

The day is part of The Community Wellbeing’s Program: ‘Step Outside the Zone’, and is one of many activities planned to bring the community together to de-stress.

The program is only run by volunteers.

“You can sit back, relax and enjoy the events being offered or jump on in and lend a hand,” said Julie.
