Basketball NSW to host Community Come and Try Day in Coffs Harbour

SPORT is an important activity which brings people from all walks of life together.

Basketball NSW will be promoting this uniting theme of sport when it hosts its Community Come and Try Day on Sunday, 30 January at Sportz Central.

The free basketball program is for those between the ages of 8 and 18, and aims to provide a safe and inclusive environment to learn the fundamentals of the sport in an introductory environment.

The clinic also aims to provide an opportunity for all young members of the community (especially new arrivals and refugees) to try basketball and connect with others outside their own cultural group, in a fun and inclusive basketball program.

The two-hour program gets underway from 2pm on Sunday, 30 January at Sportz Central, with all skill levels and abilities welcome.

Basketball NSW’s Regional Development Officer for Northern NSW Cristi Juffermans will be running the Community and Come and Try Day and explained the importance of the event.

“Basketball NSW would like to assist the Coffs Harbour youth through their settlement journey and provide a positive outlet through sport,” she said.

“We understand the benefits of providing well-rounded basketball programs, in an all-inclusive way that attracts young people from all walks of life regardless of race, ethnicity or gender.”
