In return for collecting trash from the beach and reserve area event attendees at the Seaside Scavenge can trade in their trash for treasure.

After all one man’s trash is another’s treasure!

The event will offer education around waste and single use plastic, while cleaning up the local environment.

The event will inspire, Josh Holliday of Seaside Scavenger told News Of The Area, “Seaside Scavenger inspires communities to change bad habits around single use plastic.”

Many Port Stephens local restaurants have already banned single use plastic straws.

Port Stephens Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator Janelle Gardner says this is a new and important event for the area:

“Here in Port Stephens we’re lucky to be surrounded by some of the best coastline around, but with that comes the responsibility to ensure it remains beautiful for years to come.

“Through the Seaside Scavenge we’re providing a fun opportunity for our community to get involved in cleaning up our beach,” she said.

The Scavenge will run from 9am to 1pm, with attendees trading beach litter for a range of vintage and upcycled items including clothes, accessories and more at our pop-up market.

There will also be Live local musicians playing all day.
