Or media@newsofthearea.com.au They call themselves Team 201 and on the day of the triathlon they competed in the standard event. “I did the 1.5 kilometre swim,” Chris told the News Of The Area. “Hugh did the peddling in the 40 kilometre bike ride and Breton completed the triathlon with the 10 kilometre run.’’ Not only did these retirees compete they also won a Bronze Medal. Chris has been swimmer all his life and can be found most mornings, rain hail or shine, winter or summer plying through the waters of f Jimmy’s beach. He belongs to a group of hardy swimmers who call themselves the Myall Mullets. Chris Lock said, “The water is just so pristine, you see crabs and all kinds of sea life.” Chris is also a member of the Myall Masters swim Club which holds its first meet for the season on Monday 10 October at 5pm at the Tea Gardens Pool. Other winners from the Hawks Nest Triathlon include, Col Bertram who took out the Gold medal in the 70 plus men’s age division in the Sprint distance. 50 year old Sharon Taylor, a first time triathlete won the women’s Enforcer distance. Sharon also swims with the Myall Masters and pedals with Myall Peddlers. “I love my groups,” said Ms Taylor.
