Advertising feature: Interested in helping the National Cartoon Gallery grow? Advertising Feature Coffs Coast News by News Of The Area - Modern Media - February 27, 2021 Some of the current National Cartoon Gallery volunteers. THE National Cartoon Gallery is run by a volunteer community group. While the people on the management committee are strong on ideas and enthusiasm, they are short on money. The gallery needs funds for marketing, grant writing, gallery equipment and furniture and general operating expenses. The management group has delivered a $3.0 million gallery on time and on budget, so it knows how to run an efficient operation. Our next big challenge is to win a grant of around $2.0 million to create a permanent historic exhibition in the new gallery. This will show the history of Australia since 1900, as seen through the eyes of the cartoonists of the time. This will be the only exhibition of this kind in the entire world and will lift this Coffs Harbour gallery to national significance. As well as generating lots of media coverage, it will attract thousands of additional visitors to our city. To achieve this very large goal, we will need financial support from our community. We have a number of different sponsorship packages available and if you can see the benefits of being associated with this unique and spectacular gallery, we would like to talk to you. For more information, please contact Paul McKeon on 6652 7581 or at chair@nationalcartoongallery.com.au. Volunteering at the Gallery Much of the day-to-day running of the National Cartoon Gallery is done by a great bunch of volunteers. This enthusiastic group comes from a wide cross section of our community – men and women, young and older, various nationalities & backgrounds and a wide range of skills & experience. They’re all united in the desire to make a visit to our gallery a memorable experience. With a new, bigger gallery, we are looking for more volunteers who like dealing with people and enjoy working in an interesting and exciting environment. Most of our volunteers have found that being part of the cartoon gallery team is a satisfying and stimulating experience and a great way to meet new, energetic people. We are looking for people from a variety of backgrounds as we have a wide range of jobs to be handled by our volunteers. If you’d like to know more, call into the gallery or phone 6651 7343 and ask for Robyn.
