The event schedule includes a wide range of events for all ages and abilities including the trail run half marathon, 11.5km, 6km and Kids Mud Rats along with the Standard, Sprint, Junior, Teaser and Dirt Kids triathlon events plus a duathlon and aquabike. The course has been designed for runners to experience an eclectic mix of diverse terrain, and physical challenges. Tomaree National Park offers the perfect backdrop for the action packed Trail Run Festival and TreX Series which takes the traditional form of triathlon and then heads ‘Off Road’ with a thrilling mix of swimming, mountain biking and trail running. In2Adventure, are the team who brought the ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships to Australia in 2016 and have been hosting specialist off road and adventure events throughout Australia for over ten years. Race Director Simon Lazenby sees the launch of this new trail run festival in Port Stephens as “a significant and exciting addition to an action-packed calendar of off road trail events in 2017/18.” Robyn Lazenby of In2Adventure told News Of The Area, “The event will showcase the area to people from all over Australia as runners are participating in a series which includes the Tomaree Trail Run.” “With the event spanning two days, most runners will stay longer in the region which will have a positive economic impact on local accommodation houses, and restaurants.” “I would definitely encourage locals to join in.” “We are working closely with the Fingal Bay Surf Life Saving Club who will be providing support services throughout the event,” she said. The event is proudly supported by the Port Stephens Council. The Tomaree Trail Run Festival will take place on Sunday 17 September following the TreX Cross Triathlon Festival on Saturday 16 September.
